Confluence task force finishes job; Results still unknown

Eau Claire (WQOW) - We're just days away from the spring election in Eau Claire.  Voters will decide the fate of two referendums linked to the Confluence Project.

Thursday it was revealed that the task force working on a budget and organizational structure for the arts center finished the job.  But we likely won't know the results until after Tuesday's election.

The Confluence Council Task Force will present its recommendations sometime in April.

We also learned that negotiations on developer agreements with the city are on hold until after the election.

We asked the city manager why a decision has not been made yet on how much room tax revenue will be used to backstop the arts center.

"It's not that we're trying to withhold any information," said City Manager Russ Van Gompel. "We're working diligently to come up with those answers but we just don't have those answers yet. Some that deals with how we have to set up the developers agreements with the partners and how that will be funded and all those things are still subject to negotiations. We're looking forward to getting going on that as soon as we can after the elections."
