Milwaukee (WQOW) -- The Brewers open the 2014 season on Monday against Atlanta.
Last season, Milwaukee finished 23 games out of first place in the National League Central division. But the change of the calendar brings with it fresh optimism in the Brewers clubhouse. Jonathan Lucroy points to the team's new acquisitions as a reason Milwaukee will contend this season.
"I think if our guys throw like they did today there is no reason why we cannot compete. When Garza pitches like he can, he is shut down," says Lucroy. "If our guys pitch like they can and they will, we are going to hit and we are going to score a lot of runs and it is going to be a lot of fun. "
News 18's Stephen Kelley will be on hand for the Brewers season opener and will have reports Monday at 6 & 10.
