Chippewa Falls native back from Nashville to release new album

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - A Chippewa Falls native turned Nashville singer returns home with her band in tow. They are days away from releasing a brand new album.

A chime of organic Americana pop, The Anna Johnson Band amps up the stage of Chi Hi to showcase songs from its new album. Anna Johnson, the singer and songwriter of the band, said, "It's just worth it for us to come here, we get the best stage, the best lighting, the best sound."

Johnson said, "I like that we can kind of take it one day at a time, see what we're all prepared for. It's enjoyable, it's also great to be able to do our own music."

But sister singers, Anna and Julia Johnson are no strangers to the town. Anna said, "My main support system is right here, this is where I grew up and where I started. And so we like to come back and perform a spring concert every year, and this year, this time is the cd release show, which is very exciting."

Anna said this year's album has a different feel. She said, "With every album I've done, I'm at a different season in my life, growing up, changing, etc. But this time, I am a mom. I got a 10 month old baby girl. And I just feel like I have a different perspective on the world."

A focus on music that is fine tuned to highlight five flavors of music. Band members say they feel a part of themselves are showcased in each song.

Jason Navo, the bass guitarist of the band, said, "We felt like we added a lot personally into this album than the rest that we've already done and got to experiment different sound and tones. Just that whole process and it's just a blast to do."

Julia Johnson said, "We get to put in our two cents. We all have a say in what the songs end up sounding like. And I think that's the biggest motivator."

David Mitchell, the guitarist and also Anna's husband, "It's just been a great ride. Just to realize the moment and be thankful for it because I know that so many years down the line, we're going to look back and think of all the great times we've done."

The Anna Johnson Band is releasing its new album on Tuesday, April 1. The album will be made available to purchase online at that time. Songs from the new album will available via iTunes.
