Madison (WQOW) -- Bo Ryan has coached in Final Fours before and won national titles, but just not at the Division I level.
Ryan led UW-Platteville to four Division III national titles, in 1991, 1995, 1998, & 1999.
Now, he looks to lead the Badgers to their first men's basketball national championship since 1941. Ryan says there's a lot more media attention in Division I, and a lot more fans, but the process of getting to the top is the same.
"It's the third two-game tournament that you have to win, having been through it on the Division III level and I"m very proud of those teams, but it was the same process, you had to survive and advance," says Ryan, "I looked at the stands at that first national championship team in 1991, at Platteville, and the buzzer sounded, and we got some hugs in with the staff, and I looked up in the stands and I saw the faces, on all those people that made the trip to Wittenberg, Springfield, Ohio, and I tell you, I'll never forget it, because I said, now this is what you do this for."
