Madison woman shot at Fort Hood in 2009 has "sad heart" to see another shooting at the base

MADISON (WKOW) -- Dorothy Carskadon tells 27 News that her thoughts go out to the injured in the reported shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.

Carskadon was wounded during the last mass shooting at the Army base, in 2009, when Major Nadal Hasan killed 13 people and injured more than 30 others. She told 27 News Wednesday night that she had seen the early reports of the latest shooting at the facility.

"I have a sad heart," she said. "I hope the injured are taken care of quickly."

Carskadon, team leader at the Vet Center in Madison, says she has fully recovered from the injuries she suffered five years ago.

"My thoughts go out to the Fort Hood community," she said, adding that her thoughts are also on the families of the injured and first responders.

Two Wisconsin soldiers were killed in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting: 51-year-old Russell Seager, of Racine, and 29-year-old Amy Krueger, of Kiel.
