Buffalo, NY (WQOW) -- Wisconsin's loss in the NCAA tournament was not only the last game for the team's nine seniors, but also for junior Jake McCabe.
Wednesday, McCabe bypassed his senior year with the Badgers to sign a three-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo held his rights after selecting the Eau Claire native in the second round of the 2012 NHL draft.
McCabe was a first team all-Big Ten defenseman this past season and was a team captain for the Badgers. He racked up some impressive stats during his career in Madison, including 58 points in 100 career games.
McCabe will become the second Eau Claire native in the National Hockey League, joining the Wild's Jake Dowell.
