WI Democracy Campaign leader to step down

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Mike McCabe, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, says he will leave his post at the end of the year.

After 15 years leading the campaign finance watchdog group, McCabe said he felt it time to move on.  The watchdog group maintains a frequently visited database of political contributions.

McCabe is only the second director in the history of the group, which was founded in 1995.  He has been a frequent critic of the power of money in politics and McCabe's group is frequently relied upon for tallies of campaign spending.

The 53-year-old McCabe does not have any other job lined up at this time.
