Driver crashes in CVS store in Florida

Posted: Updated:
WINTER HAVEN, Florida (WKOW) -- An 80-year-old woman in Florida is safe after someone drove their car into a CVS store.  The car missed her by inches.

The front of the store had to be closed off after police say a car came through and barely missed the people inside.

Saundra Weathers, a reporter for Bay News 9, talked with one woman who says she was in line to buy candy when the car almost hit her.  80-year-old Adrienne Watkins was almost hit by the Chevy Impala as it stops in the aisle right next to her.

"I bent over and the way the picture showed. I had just straightened up when the car went by me," Watkins says.  Watkins only suffered a few bumps and bruises.  She says she feels lucky to be alive.

Police say the 84-year-old driver had just backed into another car in the parking lot before putting her car in drive before parking in the store.  Police are still not sure why.
