MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police say a man went on a spree and damaged a lot of property at an apartment building, after a woman rebuffed his romantic advances at a party.
When officers arrived at the Luann lane apartment building, just after midnight Sunday morning, the fog from a fire extinguisher hung so thick in the hallway air they had to put on gas masks to enter.
They were responding to reports of a loud disturbance and found numerous plastic sconces shattered in the hallway, a spent fire extinguisher and broken glass that had once been part of an interior door.
In the underground parking area, officers noticed several parked cars had been damaged, as if someone had jumped on hoods, and the windshields of two cars were broken.
As officers were clearing that building, residents from two other nearby apartment buildings were making their way outside because someone had pulled the fire alarms.
Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect, 19-year-old Toupoun Lee, who was still in the area. The Milwaukee teen faces charges of Criminal Damage to Property and Disorderly Conduct.
A property manager estimated building damage at $3,500.
