City of Eau Claire continues to monitor river level


Eau Claire (WQOW) - City of Eau Claire officials are expecting to see a crest on the Chippewa River in the area Friday.

As of Thursday morning, the river was at 768 feet at the Grand Avenue measuring point. That's five feet below the downtown flood level. The National Weather Service is expecting temperatures in the 50's north of the city on Friday as well as precipitation. They estimate the river reaching an elevation of just over 770 feet on Friday. The city wants residents to be on alert for Chippewa River Trail closures behind the Hobbs Ice Arena.
