CVTC holds fourth annual Pow-Wow Exhibition

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Students, community members, veterans and American Indian dancers gathered at Chippewa Valley Technical College Monday for a Pow-Wow exhibition.

More than 30 dancers from ten tribes participated. Music was provided by The Lac Courte Oreilles Pipestone Drum Group. The goal was to show CVTC students the different forms of male and female dance styles, and educate the public about the customs of the Pow-Wow.

"Everything our dancers are wearing, there's a meaning, a reason, telling about the person in general, their tribe their clans," Dylan Prescott, the event announcer, said.

Many different kinds of dances were performed. There was even an "all tribes" dance where everyone, dancers and spectators alike, were asked to participate. The event was the fourth and largest ever held at CVTC.
