Jake McCabe Named To 2014 U.S. Men's National Team

Colorado Springs, Buffalo (WQOW) -- It's been quite a year for Eau Claire native Jake McCabe.

He finished up his career at the University of Wisconsin, he was named a first-team All-American, and then skated in seven games with the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.

Tuesday,  McCabe is named to the USA men's national team that'll compete for a world championship next month in Belarus.  Once that's over, McCabe says he'll be back in Madison this summer.

"It's nice, I have a pretty cool set-up back in Madison, Wisconsin," says McCabe, "my strength coach, there will probably be 15 of us pros going back to him, so, I've been training with him for three years now and I'm going to go back to him, so I know what to expect. I've seen Pavelski, Burish, Davis Drewiske, Brian Elliot. Those kind of guys go back there and come back in great shape. It's great to have ice right there in Madison and work out four times a week so I'm looking forward to it and can take a couple classes as well."
