Gov. Walker thankful Bucks will stay in Wisconsin

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- News that the Milwaukee Bucks have new ownership leaked a few hours before the official announcement Wednesday.

Governor Scott Walker talked about it while in Madison earlier that day, thanking former Senator Herb Kohl for his commitment to keep the team in the state.

"My hat off to him and the many years that he's committed to the Bucks, and I think its important he's been committed to trying, making sure that transition was something that would still have a strong presence here in the State of Wisconsin," Gov. Walker said. "We're excited about that."

The governor says the sale sends a strong message that Wisconsin is a "major league state."
