Baby flown to hospital with head injuries, father charged with abuse

Barron Co. (WQOW) - A baby is flown to the hospital with head injuries and now her father has been charged with child abuse.

The three-and-a-half month old baby girl was brought to the Rice Lake Hospital on Saturday by her parents, then had to be flown to Regions Hospital.  Doctors say she had a broken collarbone, bleeding on the brain, facial bruises, and eye hemorrhages.  They said the injuries are consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

The baby's father, Paul Biver, has been charged with child abuse.  Police say he told them he left the baby on the couch while he left the room, and returned to find her on the floor, crying.  Doctors indicated that would not likely be the cause of her injuries.

Biver will return to court next month.  The baby is now out of the hospital. Authorities would not tell us more about the baby's condition.
