MIT Officer killed by Boston Marathon bombing suspects remembered

CAMBRIDGE (WKOW) -- Members of the MIT community gathered on Friday to honor a fallen hero.

A remembrance ceremony was held in memory of Officer Sean Collier was shot and killed last year by the Boston Marathon bombing suspects. Those who knew him remember Collier as outgoing and always ready to lend a helping hand.

"Sean lived passionately with curiosity, genuine kindness, and a dedication to service," says MIT Police Deputy Chief Jay Perault. "I speak for the entire department when I say it was an honor to know Sean. It was an honor to work with him."

At the ceremony, MIT unveiled plans to name an intersection in Cambridge "Sean Collier Square."
