DeLong students help classmates in need with Tools for Schools grant

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire middle school students are organizing a shopping trip to help their peers in need.  Friday, local businesses stepped forward to pay the bill.

A social studies class at DeLong recently organized the 'Knight's Closet.'  Students were concerned about classmates who were coming to school without basic needs.

"Clothes, personal hygiene items, school supplies, like backpacks and binders, and we actually went from our team and a lot of kids donated from our team, and then we just kept adding it on," said DeLong sixth grader, Kaitlinn Felix.

On Friday, the class was presented with a $500 Tools for Schools grant to help fill the Knight's Closet.   Tools for Schools is a partnership between Royal Credit Union, Fired Up Pizza and Eau Claire's own News 18.
