Poynette Jamboree draws 50 softball teams

Posted: Updated:
POYNETTE, WI (WKOW) -- More than 50 teams from across the state of Wisconsin, and one team from Michigan, turned out for the 2014 Poynette Fastpitch Softball Jamboree this weekend.

The event is the state's largest high school fastpitch softball event and runs Friday through Saturday.

Games are played in Poynette, Portage, DeForest, and Arlington.

Weather permitting, Saturday's games begin at 9 am.

"I watched it on Saturday," said event organizer Bob Tomlinson, "and it said it was supposed to rain all week. But these diamonds are so amazing that I wasn't worried about it unless we get downpours. What we've been getting it just some light rain, and we played through that three days this week. In town, we've got five diamonds, and I really only have one I've got to worry about."
