Kraft Foods letting truck drivers go

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Kraft Foods is putting the brakes on its private trucking fleet.

The move will leave about 285 employees nationwide out of a job, including about 20 drivers for Oscar Mayer in Madison.

The company says they will discontinue their private fleet in phases, which will be completed by the end of 2014, and they
plan to use larger commercial carriers to haul goods between its plants and distribution centers.

The company says they have notified the Oscar Mayer drivers in Madison, and they are expected to be let go by early August.

Kraft officials say the affected employees will get separation benefits.
