Highway 93 traffic lights to be re-timed

Posted:
Eau Claire (WQOW) - If you travel Highway 93 in Eau Claire your morning commute could become a little quicker.

That's thanks to some traffic cameras that collected data last week.

Cameras were placed at intersections along 93 in Eau Claire to study the traffic flow and number of cars turning off the highway.

Based on estimates from 2012 about 15 to 20 thousand cars a day travel that stretch each day. The DOT gathers data about every three years as part of a project to re-time traffic lights in hopes of making your commute a little more efficient.

“We want to keep our system as efficient as possible for the drivers,” said traffic safety engineer Greg Helgeson. “ We want to reduce delays if possible so have to go out there and re-time it and in order to do that we need up to date count data."

The DOT says the traffic lights along Highway 93 will be re-timed by the end of the year.
