UPDATE: Authorities identify driver killed in dump truck crash

Chippewa Co. (News Release) - UPDATE: Authorities have identified the man killed in the dump truck crash in Chippewa County as 55-year-old Roger R. Petranovich of Withee.


Chippewa Co. (News Release) -
On Tuesday, May 13th, 2014 at about 9:33 a.m., Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle crash on County Highway S, approximately half a mile east of 220th Street in the Town of Anson, Chippewa County.

A dump truck, owned by HAAS Inc., was traveling west bound on Highway S east of 220th Street and crossed the center line into the east bound lane. The truck entered the south shoulder and into the south ditch striking a culvert causing the truck to overturn onto its driver’s side. The truck came to rest in the south ditch.

A 58-year-old male from Withee, Wisconsin was pronounced deceased on scene by the Chippewa County Coroner.  The male’s name will not be released at this time due to further investigation and notification.

Agencies involved included Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Anson Fire and Rescue, Chippewa Falls Ambulance, Mayo One helicopter, WI State Patrol, WI DNR, Chippewa County Coroner’s Office, Chippewa County Highway Department, and Jerry’s Towing Service.

Chippewa County authorities say a dump truck driver has died after a rollover crash Tuesday morning.

Investigators say it happened around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on County Highway S, just east of Jim Falls.  Authorities found a dump truck that had rolled and the driver was found dead on the scene. 

Investigators have not yet released how it happened or the name or gender of the driver.

County Highway S is still closed as crews clear the scene. We'll be sure to pass along additional information as we get updates.
