Annexation for frac sand mine approved

Glenwood City (WQOW) - A frac sand company looks forward to beginning the recruitment of employees after a vote Monday night.   The Glenwood City Council voted 4-2 to approve annexation for Vista Sand.

The land where the proposed mine would go is near the school, which has divided the community.   The attorney for Vista Sand says with annexation approved and agreements in place with the city and school, they look forward to finalizing permits.

A company spokesman says, "In an era of rumors and occasional misuse of data, we credit the city and school district for researching and coming to a scientific-based conclusion that our operations are good for business."
