Migrating birds drift through Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) The city of Eau Claire was flourishing with feathered friends from South and Central America on May 14.

Enthusiasts watched migrating birds at five different locations around the city including the University Hill, Braun's Bay and Owen Park. Biologists and bird experts were on hand at each place to point out birds and share information. Bird expert Steve Betchkal, who is also a video journalist at WQOW News 18, said he has been bird-watching since age eleven and he still enjoys it now.

"Birds are flying around, they land in front of your binoculars, you can see them," Betchkal said. "They're great to watch. A day to appreciate birds is a day well spent."
