BAKERSFIELD, California (WKOW) --  The nation is at awe for a video of a cat coming to the rescue when her owner is being attacked by a dog.

Four-year-old Jeremy was on his bike when the unexpected happen: a neighbor's dog comes around a parked car and attacks him.  The dog bites him and starts to drag him.  Luckily, Jeremy's cat, Tara, pounces on the dog and chases it away.

Jeremy's mother, Erika, says the attack and rescued happened so fast, but when her husband showed her the surveillance video, they saw their cat saved Jeremy.

Luckily, Jeremy walked away with only needing a few stitches on his leg.

Jeremy happily exclaims that Tara is a hero.

Erika says the dog escaped while their neighbor was pulling out of their driveway.  The neighbor called police.  A Bakersfield police spokesperson says the dog will be quarantined and then euthanized.
