EUGENE, Oregon (AP) - The Wisconsin softball team passed their first NCAA tournament test. The Badgers used a late home run from Mary Massei to edge Albany 1-0 in the opening game of their NCAA regional.

Cassandra Darrah kept up her end of the bargain in a pitcher's duel. The senior threw a four-hit shutout to pick up her 87th career victory. Massei provided the offense with a solo blast in the sixth inning. The Badgers notched just the fourth NCAA tournament victory in school history.

Wisconsin will face top-seeded Oregon on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT in the winner's bracket. The Ducks hammered Utah Valley 12-1 in their opening game.
