Altoona man admits molesting at least 10 boys while he was priest

(WQOW) - A man who used to live in Altoona and who was a Catholic priest until 2009 is admitting to sexually molesting at least 10 boys. Now top church leaders are telling what they knew.

Online records from victims' groups show former priest Thomas Adamson served in 20 different Minnesota parishes and schools from the late 1950's to the mid 1980's. He later moved to the Eau Claire area, living here for almost 20 years and working part time at an Altoona nursing home.

The lawsuit against Adamson, brought by a man who says he was abused as a boy in the mid-70's, led to depositions from top church leaders, including an archbishop.

In his deposition, Adamson offered details and graphic accounts of actual abuse. The archdiocese declined to comment on the deposition.

The lawsuit against Adamson continues to move forward. He is free while the case against him proceeds. He also continues to collect a $1,600 monthly pension from the church.
