DEVELOPING: Convicted felon on the run may be traveling with stolen guns

Posted:

Chippewa County (WQOW)- Police believe a convicted felon, on the run, has stolen a second vehicle and may be traveling with guns.

Chippewa County deputies say Eric Hall was seen Friday, putting gas into a stolen SUV, shortly before a chase began.

On Friday a red Ford Explorer was reported stolen out of River Falls.  Around 6:30 Friday night a Chippewa County deputy spotted the vehicle.   There was a chase into Eau Claire County and the suspect, believed to be Hall, ran off into the woods. Deputies searched the area with dogs and the State Patrol's air unit also helped, but there was no sign of Hall.

The sheriff's office says another vehicle has now been reported stolen from the New Auburn area, a truck, equipped with sirens and lights belonging to a volunteer firefighter. The truck is described as a 2000 tan Chevrolet Silverado. It has several hunting stickers in the back windows and pink camouflage on the rocker panels.

Law enforcement officers believe Hall may now be headed to the Eagle River area. They say he has an ongoing child custody dispute with a former girlfriend there. They also have reason to believe he could be headed across state lines, to the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

Investigators say there was a rifle and a handgun inside one of the stolen vehicles, and they believe Hall, who was released from prison last week may have them.

A felony warrant has been issued for his arrest. Chippewa County deputies say it is obvious Hall is taking whatever actions necessary to avoid apprehension, so if you see him, stay away and call local law enforcement.
