Sun Prairie stays alive, aiming for 3rd straight state title

GRAND CHUTE -- Michael Marchese hit a walk-off RBI single in the 8th inning, as Sun Prairie advanced to the D-1 WIAA state baseball championship game with a 8-7 win over Janesville Parker. The two-time defending champs found themselves down 5-2 after three innings, but tied the game at 7 in the fifth on a wild pitch. The Cardinals will face the winner of Kimberly/Wilmot Union on Thursday at 6:05 pm for the state title.

Earlier in the day, Sun Prairie beat Stevens Point 5-3 in the quarterfinals to advance to play Janesville Parker who defeated Bay Port 4-3. Middleton lost in the quarterfinals 2-1 to Wilmot Union.
