Washington, D.C. (WQOW)- The man behind a very special area non-profit is being honored in our nation's capitol.
Tom Leuck is someone you might expect to see wearing a chef's apron, but this week he donned a tux in Washington D.C. with his wife Robin by his side! Tom is being honored at the national Jefferson Awards ceremonies as the founder of Special Kid's Day.
Each year, News 18, along with the Marshfield Clinic select a volunteer going above and beyond to help their community and surprise them with a trip to the Jefferson Awards ceremonies.
All year Tom works tirelessly, cooking & selling brats and recruiting sponsors, to fund two days of full fun for hundreds of kids with special abilities.
Now in its 17th year Special Kid's Day has grown to include hundreds of area students from nine different counties.
