UW men's basketball seventh nationally in home attendance for 14th-straight year

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, Wis. – Head coach Bo Ryan and the Badgers have long credited the Kohl Center as one of the greatest venues in college basketball. Wisconsin fans continue to back that claim, packing an average of 17,104 inside the Kohl Center in 2013-14 to help UW finish seventh in the nation in home attendance.

The rank continues what has now been a 14-year streak of top-seven finishes for UW in national attendance. UW trails only Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville, North Carolina, Creighton and Indiana.

Finishing second in the Big Ten for average attendance last season, UW trailed only Indiana (17,359) who claimed the top spot. The Badgers have now ranked first or second in the league in home attendance for 12 straight seasons. UW has finished first in the conference in the category nine of the last 12 season.

The Big Ten as a league led the nation in attendance for the 38th-consecutive year, also breaking its own all-conference men’s basketball attendance record by averaging 13,534 fans per game this past season. Nine Big Ten schools ranked in the top 25 in average attendance.

Wisconsin also helped set an NCAA record at the 2014 Final Four when it played in front of 79,444, the most ever to witness a college basketball game.
