Chef Dan Fox shows us how to make Hazelnut Brioche French Toast

Madison (WKOW) – Heritage Tavern in Madison has a new brunch menu featuring a lot of tasty items including Hazelnut Brioche French Toast.

On Wake Up Wisconsin Tuesday the restaurant’s owner and chef Dan Fox made the delectable french toast dish in our studios.

Here is the recipe:

French Toast Batter:

1 Cup Milk

1 Cup Heavy Cream

1 XL Egg

Pinch Cinnamon

Pinch Nutmeg

Procedure: Combine all ingredients well with a whisk and reserve.

4 Thick Slices Brioche

Canola Oil

Fresh Strawberries to Garnish

Toasted Hazelnut, crushed

Freshly Whipped Cream

Procedure: Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add just enough canola oil to the pan to lightly coast the bottom of the pan. Once the oil is gently smoking, dip the slices of Brioche Toast in French toast batter. Make sure that batter coats all services of the toast well. Pan fry the toast until golden brown on both sides. Place caramelized French Toast on a plate and garnish with whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and toasted hazelnut. Optional Garnish: Scoop of your favorite ice cream.
