Graco recalls 2 million infant car seats

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT, MI (WKOW) -- The largest car seat recall in U.S. history now includes nearly two million infant seats to go along with the 4.2 million toddler seats already recalled by Graco.

Tuesday's announcement follows a five month dispute between Graco and federal safety regulators, who said the seats are unsafe because the buckles can get gummed up by food and drinks, making it a risk in emergencies.

In some cases parents had to cut harnesses to get their kids out.

Graco argued that infant seats are used differently, and in an emergency, an adult can remove the entire seat rather than using the buckle.
