One man found dead after authorities hear gunshots during early morning investigation

News Release (Chippewa County Sheriff's Office) -  On Tuesday July 1st, 2014 at about 11:35 PM the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to an investigate persons call at 12512 220th Avenue in the Town of Bloomer, Chippewa County. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to that residence and received information of a possible restraining order violation and information that the male suspect was armed with a high powered rifle. A vehicle was located near the residence and later found to be associated to the male suspect involved.

Deputies investigating the incident were at and near the 220th Avenue residence in the early morning hours of July 2nd when deputies heard what they believed was a high caliber rifle round fired in a close proximity to the residence. Deputies later searched the area near 12512 220th Avenue and located a 31 year old male deceased in a corn field. A high powered rifle was also seized on scene.

The Chippewa County Coroner’s Office was called and pronounced the male deceased.

The victim’s name will not be released at this time due to further investigation.
