Eau Claire (WQOW) -- It's a food drive first! Rather than nonperishable items, an area organization is asking for items with expiration dates.
It's called Fill the Fridge. Gateway Chiropractic Center in Eau Claire is hosting the drive in an effort to help the food shortage at Hope Gospel Mission. They are asking for fresh meats, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. These foods will help provide nutrition to people in difficult situations who are undergoing programs at Hope Gospel Mission.
"The kind of people that we're helping through this food drive are single mothers, mothers with children, people who have been abused their whole life people with addictions their whole lives. Men who have never been sober since they started drinking alcohol as a teenager were helping men and women of all different walks of life every single day and this food drive is just going to be wonderful," says Justin Vajko, Hope Gospel Mission's Volunteer Coordinator.
If you'd like to donate, you can bring your items to gateway chiropractic center in Eau Claire which is on Mall Drive, before August 1st. You can also donate at Festival Foods in Eau Claire on August 2nd.
