LATEST: Eau Claire police asking for public's help in solving string of armed robberies

Posted:
Eau Claire (WQOW) - A string of three armed robberies at Eau Claire gas stations and still no arrests. The latest armed robbery happened Friday night at the Mega Holiday gas station on Cameron Street

About two weeks ago, two other Eau Claire Holiday Gas Stations were robbed at gun point in one night. Police say in all three cases the suspect got away with cash, but won't say how much. They also say each of the robberies seemed to have similar descriptions of the suspect; a male, five foot ten and about two hundred pounds. But in each robbery the person was wearing something different.

Police say they aren't assuming it's the same man in all three, but they aren't ruling it out either. "As a police department we'd like to arrest the person within a half hour like they do on TV but that's not the case. We really have to look at the totality of each case individually and then try to determine if they are then connected in someway. One of the risks that we run when there's a high profile case, that has media attention, we see people that are copycats and try to do the same thing.," says Community Relations Officer Kyle Roder.

WQOW News 18 did ask police if there were any concerns that it was the same business that's been hit each time. They say they are looking at things like access and staffing but can't say yet if those things played a role in why holiday was targeted.

Police ask that if you have any information you contact them at 715-839-4990.

Eau Claire (News Release) - On Friday, July 11, 2014, at 9:14 p.m., Eau Claire Police responded to an armed robbery at the Mega Holiday Store at 2119 Cameron Street in the City of Eau Claire. Eau Claire (WQOW) -
Eau Claire Police say they're still searching Saturday for a man after an armed robbery attempt at an Eau Claire gas station Friday night.

Eau Claire Police say they've followed up on several leads but so far they've turned up empty.

The call came in around 9:15 Friday night. Police say a man entered the Mega Holiday Gas Station on Cameron Street, displayed a weapon and made demands to the employee on staff.

The suspect was wearing all black and ran away on foot out the back door. It is not clear whether he made it out with any cash.

Last week, two Eau Claire Holiday Gas Stations were robbed at gun point in one night. A suspect has not been found in either of those robberies.

Although they appear to be similar, police can't say yet if it is the same person in all three cases.
