Runners pound pavement at the 15th annual Water Street Mile

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A busy weekend in Eau Claire started off bright and early down on Water Street.

The 15th annual Water Street Mile run was off and running at 8:30 Saturday morning.

About 400 runners took part in the event which has two options; a one mile and a 5K run.

"Someone can come in and run really really fast or someone can come who's maybe not in the world's greatest shape but they can still participate and do that one mile,” said race organizer Mary Pica-Anderson. “We have some people who judge their fitness level based on the results from this year compared to last year."

All proceeds from the event go towards the L.E. Phillips Senior Center.
