More than 75,000 people attend Northern Wisconsin State Fair

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - It'll be another year before the Northern Wisconsin State Fair rolls back around.

The 117th annual five day event wrapped up Sunday. Rusty Volk, with the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, said more than 75,000 people were in attendance this year. He said last year's numbers were just shy of that.

Volk said this year brought in the most spectators they've had since ownership changed in 2007, which he attributes to good weather and some new activities like the primate zoo.

"So what stood out to me this year at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair was how much fun everybody was having, and really that's tribute to all the wonderful weather, the cool weather that we had. This event is so weather determined because if it's hot out, no body likes to go out. This year's weather is perfect,” Volk said.

More than 2,000 volunteers helped put on the event. Volk said plans for next year's fair have not been finalized, but they are looking at possibly bringing back some of this year's featured shows.

We saw many of you out at the fair this week at our News 18 booth. For those of you who entered to win prizes, including a flat screen TV, we'll be drawing the winners on Monday!
