BARNEVELD (WKOW)-- A Barneveld family got the surprise of a lifetime, thanks to the TV show Treehouse Masters.
“It's definitely not just for kids,” said Emily Jasinowski, who’s family got the new treehouse.
In fact this treehouse is a gift from Emily, Zach Duesler and their sister Katie Duesler, to their parents.
It all started when Katie applied for the Animal Planet show.
“I thought the likelihood of them getting picked for this, would probably never happen,” said Brad Duesler.
At first nothing did happen, but a year and a half later, the Duesler's kids got a call and joined the Treehouse Masters team to create a 35th wedding anniversary surprise for their parents.
“We got married out here, just on the rock up on the hill behind us, 35 years ago and the farm's been in our family since 1850,” Brad said.
The Treehouse Masters crew handled the construction but the family contributed with works of art both inside and outside the house.
“We have a pretty creative family so it was a neat outlet for all of us to work together and hopefully a space to create a lot more artwork,” Zach said.
Katie Duesler, an artist, did all the paintings for the treehouse and Zach, an architect helped with the design. The treehouse itself is stocked with canvases, paint and sewing materials.
“They created it as a studio for all of us in our family to do music and sewing and weaving and all kinds of crafts,” Brad said.
The house is also filled with reclaimed materials- railings made of logs from the property and the windows are re-purposed from the old farm house. It all added to a finished product Brad and Diane never imagined.
“When I did see it for the first time, it was very special and just magical and very surreal,” Diane said.
The full episode of Treehouse Masters, featuring the Duesler family, airs Friday at 9 PM on Animal Planet.
