MANKATO, Minn. (KTTC) -- The 49th annual Vikings training camp kicks off Thursday in Mankato, although players won't be hitting the field just yet.

The team reports to camp and checks into the dorms at Minnesota State University Mankato Thursday afternoon.

There's also a tailgating party featuring players and cheerleaders.

Friday is the first practice and walk through.

Meanwhile, Mankato is preparing for a huge influx of football fans over the course of the three-week training camp.

Last year nearly 70,000 people watched the Vikings get ready for the season.

Some restaurant owners expect a 30 to 40 percent increase in business.

NewsCenter's Mike Sullivan is with Vikings players as they move into the dorms in Mankato.

Look for the full story from him tonight on the NewsCenter at 5 and 6.
