Eau Claire (WQOW) - The man who held an Eau Claire family hostage for seven hours agreed to a plea bargain on Thursday.
James Albrecht agreed to plead guilty to three felonies, including taking a hostage. In return, six other charges were dismissed. But the judge can still consider those when Albrecht is sentenced in October.
It was in April that police were chasing Albrecht when they say he ran into an apartment on Hidden Place in Eau Claire. Investigators say he was armed with a handgun, and held a family of two adults and three children hostage. A lengthy standoff ensued. Albrecht eventually surrendered, and no one was hurt. Police say he later told them he had been up using meth for four days in a row.
