Gilman resident found dead on railroad tracks


Taylor Co. Sheriff’s Office (Press Release) – On Friday, July 25, shortly after 11:45pm, the Taylor County Dispatch Center received a report from the Canadian National Railroad that one of their trains had been involved in a pedestrian vs. train incident near the intersection of West Riverside Drive and Railroad Street in the Village of Gilman.

Upon arrival of Emergency Medical Services from the Gilman Ambulance and EMT Service and Taylor County Sheriff’s Deputies, a female victim was located. Initial assessment indicated the individual was deceased as a result of this incident. The Taylor County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old, Heather E. Johnson, who has resided in the Village of Gilman for the past several months.

While investigation continues by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, the Taylor County Medical Examiner’s Office and representatives from the Canadian National Railroad, suspect no foul play at this time.
