On Saturday, July 26, 2014, around 6:43 AM, Officers from the Stanley Police Department and Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a neighbor dispute at 228 Lincoln Street in the City of Stanley.  Officers were advised a .22 caliber firearm had been discharged.  Upon arrival of officers, the subject was observed walking back into his residence prior to officers being able to attempt contact with him.  The subject was identified as James E. Colburn, 41 years-old.  Officers believed Colburn’s wife and their children were inside the residence as well, which was later confirmed.

Stanley (WQOW) - Law enforcement officers and a SWAT team have surrounded a home in Stanley where a man, who is believed to be armed, is refusing to come out.

Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk says officers were called to a home in the area of Franklin street Saturday morning after reports of a gunshot.

A man inside the residence refused to speak with law enforcement and after repeated attempts the SWAT team was called in. Sheriff Kowalczyk says it's believed the man's wife and children are also in the home, but it's not being called a hostage situation. No one has been hurt.

As of 10:00 Saturday morning SWAT is at the residence and negotiators are still attempting to speak with the man inside. The sheriff says law enforcement officers are working to obtain a search warrant so they can enter the home.
