Milwaukee Sheriff: If you see something, say something

Posted: Updated:
MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The sheriff of Milwaukee County is asking citizens to be particularly vigilant about activities around local religious sites due to hostilities in the Middle East.

Sheriff David Clarke says there's a potential for agitators to attack or vandalize synagogues, temples and mosques in protest. Clarke says if citizens see any suspicious activity, particularly during off-worship times and at night, call local law enforcement.

The military says Israeli jets struck three sites in Gaza Monday after a rocket was launched at Israel, disrupting a relative lull in the war-torn territory at the start of a major Muslim holiday.

The strikes followed an almost 12-hour pause in fighting and came as international efforts intensified to end the three-week war between Israel and Hamas. The U.N. called for a cease-fire in the conflict that has already killed over 1,030 Palestinians, 43 Israeli soldiers and three civilians on the Israeli side.
