UPDATE: Person killed in motorcycle crash was Lanesboro man

LANESBORO, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash near Lanesboro.

Robert A. Petrillo, 61, of Lanesboro, was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a pickup truck just before 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of County Road 8 and County Road 17.

According to the State Patrol, a pickup truck with two couples from Illinois was driving west on County Road 8. Petrillo was driving his motorcycle the opposite direction on County Road 8. The truck was turning left onto southbound County Road 17 when the two collided.

State Patrol Trooper David Borden said Petrillo, "laid his bike down and went underneath the truck." Petrillo was pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the truck was hurt.

This intersection is part of a detour being used as construction on the Highway 16 bridge is underway.
