VILLAGE OF ROCK SPRINGS (WKOW) -- Two people were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash Friday night.

According to the Sauk County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a report of a crash at 8:34 p.m. on East Broadway/State Highway 136 at Holtz Street. The investigation showed that a vehicle operated by Erica A. Burdick, 44, of Baraboo, was traveling west on State Highway 136 when Burdick lost control and slid sideways into the path of Mary A. Rajchel, 58, of North Freedom, who was headed east. Burdick's vehicle then overturned, landing on its roof in a yard south of East Broadway. Both Burdick and Rajchel were taken to the hospital. They were both wearing seatbealts.

Officials say speed and wet conditions were believed to be factors in the crash, but alcohol was not a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
