1 dead, 3 hurt in shooting at Beloit park

BELOIT (WKOW) -- One person is dead and three others hurt in a shooting incident at a Beloit park Saturday night.

Beloit police say they were called to reports of shots fired at Summit Park on Henry Avenue in the city of Beloit. When officers arrived they found two men had been shot. They were both taken to a hospital. One died and the other is still being treated for life-threatening injuries.

A third person was taken to the hospital at the same time, after being knocked unconscious on scene. That victim has been released.

Several hours later, a female victim came to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Police believe her injuries are also connected to the incident.

Beloit police have not released any details on what led up to the shooting and may release more information Monday.

"We're still trying to get to the story yet," Capt. Dan Risse said. "We're certainly encouraging anybody that has any information to please give us a call we'd like to talk to you."

The investigation is ongoing.
