Plymouth's senior center wants liquor license

Posted: Updated:

PLYMOUTH, Wis. (AP) -- A group that wants to run Plymouth's senior center wants a liquor license, but is finding some opposition.

The Plymouth Intergenerational Coalition is seeking the license to allow them to host events including weddings and reunions that will bring in revenue at the city's senior center, Generations.

Sheboygan Press Media reports the Common Council denied the group's original application for the license in May. But after an appeal hearing July 29 aldermen voted to grant the license, but Mayor Donald Pohlman vetoed it.

Now, the alderman will vote Wednesday to uphold or override a veto.

The senior center building hosts senior citizen activities, but is open to people of all ages and includes a daycare, kindergarten classrooms and an adult community center.
