Chi-Hi Names New Boys Basketball Coach

Chippewa Falls High School News Release --

Tim Thompson has been named as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Chippewa Falls High School.  Tim is filling the void created when Luke Madsen resigned the position earlier this summer.

Thompson has roots in the Big Rivers Conference as one of his first coaching jobs was as an Assistant Football and Basketball coach at Superior High School from 1995-99.  Since then, Thompson has been the Head Boys Basketball coach at Antigo, Mt. Horeb, and most recently Green Bay Notre Dame.  Thompson has enjoyed success at each of his Head Coaching stops.  He has twice led teams to WIAA Sectional Final appearances.  During his time at Mt. Horeb, he led the Vikings to their first conference championship in 60 years.

“Tim's experience as a Head Coach speaks for itself”, stated Chi-Hi Activities Director John Frizzell.  Frizzell also commented that with Tim's success and experience coming at established Division 1 and 2 programs, he comes into the position with a great deal of credibility.  “Tim has an unabashed passion for the game of basketball.  His enthusiasm for the game and for coaching will quickly endear him to the players and basketball community,” stated Frizzell.

The Chippewa Falls Boys Basketball team returns several key players from last year's team and is looking to build off of last season.  “I am thrilled to have this opportunity.  I am excited to be a Cardinal and I look forward to getting settled in the community and meeting the players and families,” said Thompson.

The Boys Basketball season begins on November 17th with the first day of practice.  The Cardinals are slated to open their season on December 2nd when they host La Crosse Logan.
