Africa Fest intends to bridge and build communities

MADISON (WKOW) – Africa Fest is happening this weekend in Madison.

The long-running event is coming to Warner Park this Saturday. The event is scheduled to get underway at 10:00am.

The festival is an educational and enjoyable event devoted to grassroots cultural heritage. It features musicians, artists, performers, cooks, craftspeople and scholars who will be demonstrating, presenting, and discussing the cultural traditions of recent African immigrants in the Madison area.

African immigrants living in the Madison area will talk about their daily lives, history and cultural identity.

Food vendors will be on hand, as well as craft vendors spread across the park. A popular new addition to the festival is the "African Tent" it brings a physical representation of a real African village.

This years theme is "Bridging and Building Communities" admission is $2 for the general public and free for children under 12.
