UW-Stout's new Chancellor has first day

Menomonie (WQOW) - The surroundings of a new job are usually strange but not for UW-Stout's new Chancellor, Robert Meyer, who started today.  He attributes the sound of the Bowman Hall Bells for bringing him to a familiar reality.  He has spent many years at stout.  It's the place he graduated from, taught at, and served as an administrator.  The past six years however, he was the president of Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.  He says he is excited to be back at Stout and is eager to get to work.

"I'd really like to see us extend the array of programs that we have at UW-Stout.  That would include new programs in Engineering and Science.  And Mechanical Engineering is one that I'm very interested in bringing to the university at the forefront."

Meyer is only the seventh chancellor in UW-Stout's history.  He replaces Charles Sorensen, who was there for more than 25 years.
