Holcombe (WQOW) -- News 18's Two-A-Days wrap up with looks at Lakeland Conference teams Cameron & Lake Holcombe/Cornell.

Cameron has ten seniors on its roster.  In 2013, the Comets went 6-3 in the regular season to make the playoffs for a fourth straight season.  This year, the Comets goal is to extend that streak to five.

"You know, as the years have gone on, the kids just expect to be better and better," says Cameron head coach Bob Bowerman, "we think we're a playoff team right now, so we just have to prove it today and every week. That's the minimum we want to be: a playoff team."

The Comets open the season Thursday against Clear Lake, in a game that will be played at Pug Lund Field in Rice Lake.

The numbers are up at Lake Holcombe/Cornell, as the Knights have 38 players out for football. Many of those players are underclassmen, with just five seniors on the roster, but head coach Jeff Stender has been happy with the leadership of those seniors.

"My upperclassmen are stepping up and playing hard and working hard," says Stender, "they're showing the way for these younger kids. We have a lot of young kids out this year, so hopefully they show good leadership and teach them how we do it. Work together, it's a team sport so we have to be one unit out there and have a good time."

The Knights kick off the season, Friday, when they host Augusta.
